The family and friends of Cheryl Schrader are uniting to raise money to help with her battle against cancer. Together we can lift her up!

Dear Friends,

As most of you are aware, our mom was diagnosed with a rare form of Cancer on August 29th, 2012. The technical term for this Cancer is Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma (this is a type of sarcoma). It's been quite the whirlwind since we found out and things are moving rapidly.

Luckily we live in MN and the surgeon (Dr. Cheng) and the oncologist (Dr. Skubitz) at the University of MN are the experts in regard to treating this particular type of cancer. We are thankful and very positive she will come out of this stronger and healthier than ever! As happy as we are the cancer is currently contained only in the tumor, it's a very aggressive cancer and likes to spread. That's why treatment is progressing rapidly so she can hopefully shrink the tumor, and eventually have it removed.

Her chemo treatment begins on Monday September 10th at 10am at the University of MN. She will undergo 4 rounds of chemo. She is able to start treatment at the U of M on Monday morning, and then continue her treatment at her home for the following 6 days, continuously. There will be nurses coming to her house peridocially to check on her and make sure things are ok. She will get about 3 weeks off between chemo treatments.

Chemo should be finished sometime during the middle of January. She will then undergo surgery to remove the tumor from her leg. After the removal, 6 weeks or so of radiation.

Her immune system will be very weak because of the low white blood cell count from the chemo. I know she will want visitors, but we just ask that if you even have the sniffles, to wait until you're feeling better before you try and visit her. She will no doubt need visitors during these months at home and we encourage it. We just need to keep her as healthy as possible.

We have to thank all of you for your thoughts, prayers, support, and kind words during this time. Your words of encouragement keep both her and our family strong and positive. We will keep this site updated so you can check on her progress at your leisure.

Love, Jessica & Jimmy
