Please help Apollo with his hip surgery. He is a loving and beloved member of our family, and deserves an active and pain free life.

Apollo is a 7 month old Australian Shepard that has developed hip displasia. we are not sure what the exact cause or how sever it is yet (we still need to get x-rays taken), but our vet believes the puppy chow we fed him allowed him to grow too much. He is now eating a puppy food that is meant for large breed dogs, and his growth has slowed considerably, but he is still quite large for a puppy of his age and breed.

We would love for him to be able to run and play again. As it is right now, he cant be active for more than 10 minutes or so before he starts to have trouble walking. He loves to play with his tug and will place one end of it right into your hand to get you to play with him. He also loves to chase and catch tennis balls (also our cats). He is great with kids and loves the attention he gets from them.

It pains us to have to limit his activities so much when it is clear that he desperately wants to run and jump and play with the other dogs in the neighborhood.

Please help us raise the funds needed for his x-rays and hip surgery. Thank you.

Update: Saturday, April 28, 2012

Apollo had his X-Rays taken today, and our fears were confirmed. his left hip is dislocated, and the head of his right femur does not seat well into the socket. We have posted one of his X-Rays images as well as an image from a dog with healthy hips for comparison.

We are also in contact with several surgical centers to determine exactly what needs to be done.

Thanks again to all those who have donated.
