My two friends and I want to do some charity work with World Vets after graduation in May. Help us join the spay/neuter efforts in Romania!

For those of you who don't know, I am graduating from the University of Connecticut in May and will be attending veterinary school in the fall. I have not yet decided which school but I will keep you updated :)

During the Communist regime of Nicolai Ceausescu, farmers were forced to move from their villages to Communist bloc housing in the city and to work in factories. He did not allow cats and dogs in public housing, so many were abandoned. Though Communism fell in 1989, the number of homeless cats and dogs living in cities and towns has reached crisis level. Stray dogs and cats wander the streets of Romania, searching for food and shelter. Cars hit many of them. They all risk poisoning, illness and starvation. Those animals placed in shelters are fed scraps, if they are lucky.  (

In order to improve the quality of life for our companion animals, we need to control their overpopulation. World Vets is a non-profit organization that brings veterinarians, technicians, and students to developing countries to help with spay and neuter efforts. They target all animals, both small and large. Not only are they focused on the veterinary treatment of the animals, but also the health of the people living there as well. Great care is put towards the education of the local people in regards to stopping the spread of zoonotic diseases and maintaining healthy animals.

This is a fabulous organization and I would be honored to be a part of such a project. Efforts like this have global effects and can truly make a difference.

The trip that we are trying to participate in is the Romania trip from May 21-31, 2010. I encourage you to check out the website:

Any donations would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! Even consider just giving $1-- please, everything helps :)

Proceeds will help us with the expenses of the program and anything extra will go DIRECTLY to World Vets to support their efforts!

P.S. If you are hesitant to donate online, PLEASE CONTACT ME! There are other ways to send in donations!
