TJ was lost in Fort Collins. After 8 weeks he was hit by a car in Boulder 50 miles away! He was badly hurt, requiring surgery and 24hr care.
TJ was lost on May 14 by our dog sitter in City Park Fort Collins. We posted signs, distributed flyers, made phone calls and got the word out to everyone we could. Many tips came in and we were able to track him for several weeks around Fort Collins and Laporte. By June 8, those tips dried up.
TJ had wandered south some 50 miles to Boulder. He remained in the same area for a few weeks. Boulder Animal Control received several calls about him and tried very hard to catch him, but unfortunately were not successful.
On July 9, TJ was struck by a car in Boulder and was seriously injured. Animal Control took him to an emergency center and scanned his microchip which was used to contact me. 8 Weeks later and 50 miles away, TJ had been found!
TJ's right hind leg required amputation. His right front leg is broken and requires surgery to repair. He's in rough shape still - requiring 24hr monitoring and care. He will remain at the emergency center for at least a week.
We're so happy to have found TJ again, and are hopeful that he will return home soon and have a speedy recovery. I'm amazed by the compassion and support of complete strangers who went above and beyond while we were searching for TJ. I'd like to thank everyone for their tips, support, thoughts, and prayers during the search. I'd also like to thank everyone in advance for their generosity as we are now faced with staggering vet bills.
