2 1/2 years ago Kathi was diagnosed with a rare brain disease called Intracranial Hypertension. 1 in 100,000 people get this disease and as of right now it's incurable. It causes too much spinal fluid in the skull, crushing the brain instead of cushioning it, acting much like a brain tumor without a tumor to remove. It causes balance issues, nausea, vertigo, tinnitus, extreme head pain, and sometimes blindness if left untreated. It's managed by medication, LP's, and brain surgery. Kathi has been approved for a mobility assistance dog to help her with balance, although in college, Kathi can't go out or make it around school very well due to balance issues and often needs a friend to help her walk. A service dog would help her independence greatly and she wouldn't have to worry about falling as much. Please help us raise the $10,000! We're trying to raise it ASAP so she can receive her dog before the next semester.
