Friends of Ellen Guier are raising funds to help alleviate her medical costs while she fights a rare cervical cancer.

In March 2012 Ellen, 23 at the time, was diagnosed with small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of the cervix. This is an extremely rare form of cancer that is hardly ever seen. There is little to no documentation on it and there is no known treatment that “works.”

Since then her life has been completely changed. Ellen had to have a radical hysterectomy right away. This includes all female organs removed, lymph nodes, and tissues. This surgery also sets her up for potential problems in her future with additional unforeseen medical expenses.

In April, Ellen started chemo at Barnes in St. Louis and in May started her radiation. Since her cancer is so aggressive the doctors needed to start her treatment right away and as aggressive as possible. She just recently finished two forms of chemotherapy simultaneously with two forms of radiation that ended July 9th, and has experienced the loss of her hair. She has endured a rigorous treatment schedule that was completed in two and a half months. Now it will just be a waiting game for her and praying that the cancer never returns. Ellen has stayed strong and positive during this trying time. Her faith has not wavered and her love of life has grown to a whole new level. We feel a need to do “something” to help alleviate some stress off of Ellen. The money donated will be used towards her ongoing medical expenses.
