Manuel is a child of six years, he has the pathology of nystagmus, their ophthalmologists have estimated visual acuity of 25%.

Hi Everyone: My name is Rocio Moreno, and I have a son who was born on July 16, 2006. His name is Manuel Moreno. Manuel was born with a Bilateral Horizontal Nystagmus in both eyes, accompanied by Torticollis, was diagnosed when he was 6 months, and since he was 7 months, he used glasses. His eyes, unintentionally, suffer from involuntary movements, so their vision is very limited and declining. Their ophthalmologists have estimated to him a visual acuity of 25%, which causes him constant crashes, and that performance in daily activities (read, write, play, paint) has been reduced exponentially. This implies the impossibility of study, which is causing a terrible school failure to him, besides not being able to live life like any other child his age, so a huge complex feels unable to engage and participate in daily activities. On 09/03/2012 I met an ophthalmologist who has proposed me for the pathology of Manuel, the combination of two treatments, consisting of: 1. Injecting botulinum toxin into the eyes, to get block the optic nerves, and that he stop the eyes movements. 2. Perform surgery (cutting the optic nerve muscle and rotate 14 mm), definitely stop making unwanted motion. The Dr. Rodríguez Sánchez, states that it could achieve a visual acuity of 85-90%. As a mother, I am very hopeful that this combined treatment produces good results in my son's eyes, improve their quality of life, their school performance and their incorporation into everyday activities like any other child. Moreover I am desperate to not have sufficient financial resources to implement the treatment of Dr. Rodriguez Sanchez, I spent all the money that I had in my hand in previous treatment. I am a single mother, Manuel is everything to me, and it breaks my heart every time I took him to ophthalmologist and he says he has lost vision or that has not improved with the treatments. Please, I need your help, thank you very much from the bottom of our hearts. All our love, Manuel and Rocio. What is nystagmus? Nystagmus is an involuntary movement of the eyes Which Often you reduce vision seriously. Peoples with nystagmus encounter some Difficulties in everyday life, education and employment.
