My main goal is to get him out of a house that is unhealthy and unsafe, and into a place where he can feel safe and be healthier.

We're needing a new home, one that is ground level with no steps.....hubby is disabled and uses a powerchair but our present rental won't allow for that. Outside steps are steep and doors too narrow to use chair inside, its "trapped" in the garage until we find another place. Well, I found a double wide mobile home and its perfect, set in a senior park, low space rent, and an ideal location to allow our son to get to his Dad in an emergency if I am not home. I work weekends away from home....and at 37
hours a MONTH...I don't make a huge amount.

Hubby also needs a heavy duty power lift chair, he sleeps in his recliner and while he isn't terribly heavy, he's hard on furniture, frequently losing his balance and plopping into chair. He has difficulty getting up from a seated position, the lift chair would help him gain his footing. He's 65 and has numerous health problems, diabetes, COPD, sleep apnea, a knee replacement that is 14 years old and giving him problems, this has also thrown his back and hips out of alignment and gives him balance problems. He's blind in one eye (can make out shadows but no actual shapes or colors), deaf in one ear since a toddler, and has maybe 25% hearing left in the other ear.

We do have two service dogs who are a tremendous help, one hears for us and keeps us aware of bells, buzzers, phones, and someone on the property that doesn't belong. The other is his medical alert dog who monitors his diabetes (highs and lows in his blood sugar) and she wakes him when he stops breathing in his sleep.
