This is Sammy Gourley's Cancer Fund. The funds will be used for Sam's medical costs and related expenses not covered by insurance.

CANCER.....a word no one wants to hear.....Sammy has recently been diagnosed with Malignant Melanoma . Sammy has a wife, Children and GrandChildren whom he loves and adores very much. Sammy will be turing 59 this November. Sammy has been a hard working man his entire life. Making a decent living until the company he worked for 38 years sold. After being on unemployment he was able to find a decent job working in the maintenance department at a local highrise. And then.....after a routine colonoscopy the news came. Sammy was diagnosed with malignant melanoma of the rectum. This is a very rare cancer and he is also in Stage 4. Sam also has melanoma on his lungs and also renal cell carcinoma of the kindey and small lesions on his brain. Chemo will start this Wednesday August 22, 2012 which will cost $1,000 per treatment. Sam has not worked a full week at his job since the first week of July. He has used all of his sick days and his vacation days are slowly dwindling away. Sam's wife Karen is holding strong through all of this. She was able to take some time off from her job to take Sam to his Dr. appt's. During a biopsy on his lung, he was sent home with a chest tube after his lung collasped. After a few days the Dr.'s tried to remove the tube but the lung collasped again and he was sent home again with the chest tube. The second time removing the chest tube worked. Sam's Doctors are 40 miles away. His insurance will not cover visits to our local hospital. Not only is this family needing help with medical expenses but also every day living expenses. Sammy's wife Karen is back to work but having a 1 family income on minimum wage does not work.  Karen is not unfamiliar to cancer.  Her Mother Carol and her sister Cathy have both passed away due to cancer.  God Bless this family!
