The family and friends of Rebecca ("Becca") Svitkovich are trying to raise money for her fight against uterine cancer. Please help!

My next door neighbor and friend, Rebecca (“Becca”) Svitkovich, is a 44-year-old mother of four girls – Brittnie, Debbie and Stephanie (twins) and her step-daughter, Sammie. She and her husband, Gary, have been married 5 years. Because of her health conditions, Becca does not work outside the home. Her husband, Gary, is an Over-The-Road trucker and is away from home for 6 - 8 weeks at a time. Unfortunately, Gary’s employer does not provide health care to its employees. Gary is an Army veteran who served his country honorably and now finds himself in a position where he needs help for his wife.

I’ve gotten to know Becca since she and Gary moved next door to me about a year ago. When she told me she had been diagnosed with uterine cancer, I was saddened to hear the news. I knew she’d had breast cancer 15 years ago and was a survivor – I could tell that by all the pink ribbons her car was adorned with! It just didn’t seem fair that she would have to endure another bout of cancer.

After undergoing a D & C, Becca’s doctor diagnosed her with endometrial hyperplasia – uterine cancer - and has told her that she has to have a hysterectomy within the next 3 - 6 months or the cancer could become fatal. The doctor is pushing her to have the surgery within the next 3 months to guarantee a better survival rate. (If you would like to learn more about Becca’s cancer, please go to )

I knew they didn’t have health insurance and that she, probably couldn’t get insurance because she is, also, diabetic and has PCOS (polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). In talking to Becca and Gary, I found that they would have to pay – in advance - for the surgery and treatment which is estimated to cost $25,000! Their annual income is too high to qualify for Medicaid coverage and too low where they could afford the high premium health insurance (upwards of $600 per month just for Becca). And, even if they could afford the health insurance, it still would not cover Becca’s current cancer.

Becca has a strong desire to overcome this disease so she’ll be able to live long enough to see her daughters marry and provide her with future grandchildren to spoil! She says that if she can beat breast cancer, she can beat this, too! And, I know she can do this but she needs our help to raise the $25,000 (which includes follow-up care and medications) for a hysterectomy. We are hoping that you will participate in this fundraiser for Becca to achieve this goal and reclaim her life from cancer.
