We are friends and colleagues of Richard Anderson who have united to support him and to raise money to help him put his life back together.

Two years ago, Richard began to experience seizures. What followed quickly became a nightmare, which Richard has been documenting in a special blog. About this, Joe McCarthy tweeted: "The story of one man's battle with neurocysticercosis, misdiagnoses & mistreatment @Riander http://bit.ly/eiHyHh

Richard is now living "on the street," without income or savings and unable to work, having lost his home and many of his belongings, having incurred enormous medical bills, and still continuing to pursue appropriate medical care.

We have found Richard's story to be shocking and distressing, and we invite you stay in touch with Richard as his story continues, and to help Richard out with a financial contribution. Our initial goal is to raise $10,000 in 4 weeks. You can make a financial contribution via this website by clicking the Give Now button on this page. If you prefer, you can send money directly to Richard instead using the following mailing address of one of his friends:

Richard Anderson
74 Pond St.
San Francisco, CA 94114

Other types of gifts, such as food, a gift certificate, or a get-together for lunch or dinner, can also be considered. Contact Richard directly (riander@well.com) regarding any gift idea along these lines. (Richard accesses email almost every day in "his two offices" -- a San Francisco Starbucks and a Marin County library.)

We're also planning to host gatherings, including a professional conference, to benefit Richard. Information about these gatherings will be provided via Richard's special blog and the Friends of Richard Anderson Facebook page.

We know Richard has many friends and colleagues who would like to help. Please spread the word and contribute now!

Thank you.
