We need financial support and extra love for my mom, who is undergoing radiation and chemotherapy to treat a large malignant brain tumor.

This group represents only a small handful of family, friends and people who love Shyla Rae Sittler. This beautiful 62 year young woman is the mother of Stacey and Hilary Gonia, wife of Jim Sittler and is adored - for ample reasons - by all who know her. Having just retired last year after almost 30 years as an employee of Washington State, Shy was just getting ready to enjoy her golden years after a lifetime spent serving and caring for everyone else. She had her fun and indulged in a few drinks with us while decorating cookies, loved her boys Ralph and Sam (her Shitzu's) and occasionally enjoyed laughing a little too hard at her own botched, handmade gifts. If asked though, she will tell you that her greatest achievement has been raising her two daughters and one step son (a few "adopted" friends of theirs, too), and when Stacey had her car accident, Shy thought nothing of dropping everything to be there and be Stacey's caregiver.

For all of her children, her family, her friends - Shy has always put herself last.

Out of nowhere she was completely blind-sided. She had no idea a lethal tumor had been rapidly developing in her brain, until one morning she began having grand mal seizures. We were all shocked and horrified when CT scans revealed large, malignant tumors in her brain. They are a particularly aggressive form of cancer, and the tumors are located in deep areas of her brain that make surgery for extraction impossible.

Despite the bleak prognosis, Shy will not give up. She is undergoing radiation and chemotherapy, and her beautiful smile is making cancer look good! :)

However, this team has been created in her honor, and with the hope that it's members will do their part - no matter how small - to help Shy through this incredibly hard time. We have a lot to do as far as medical expenses and modifications to her home to make it wheelchair accessible, and we would LOVE to be able to take her on a vacation that she deserves!

Thank you all so much in advance for all of your thoughts and prayers! GO TEAM SHY!
