The family and friends of Doug Vitale are uniting to raise money to help support his cause. Please show your support!

On September 25th during a patrol in Sangin, Afghanistan, Doug was seriously injured by an IED explosion. He was the squad leader of the patrol, and stepped on the device when walking in an area that several of his men had already walked through. The quick action of his men by placing tourniquets on his legs and getting him airlifted saved his life. He was hospitalized for acute care at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD after treatment in Afghanistan and Germany. Doug has suffered amputations of both legs as well as a severe traumatic brain injury.

On November 21st, Doug was transferred to the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Florida for acute rehabilitation. He will receive care through the Polytrauma Center's traumatic brain injury program.

Doug enlisted in the Marines in 2007. He has had deployments to Cuba and Spain as part of the Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team. On July 13, 2011 he left for Afghanistan as his first infantry combat deployment. He was to return in February 2012.

For a Small Group Communication course at Kent State University, Doug VItale's cousin, Evan Volpe, and group mates Lynae Gieseman, Kelsey Derrick, Olivia Schroll, and Peter Finley, decided to create a fundraiser to benefit Doug's cause. Any and all monetary support would be greatly appreciated for help with Doug's continuing care! Please donate TODAY!
