Help with painful cancer bills

Hello

I am a 55 year old happily married father of three. In September of 2007 I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a rare cancer that attacks the blood and bone. Historically, there is no cure for this cancer. However, after two bone marrow transplants my cancer is in 100% remission.

The bummer is I exceeded my companies lifetime million dollar cap in 2008 and 2009. In January of 2009 I developed some major complications due to the transplants and was in the hospital from January until May. I am so blessed to have a strong support system, my wife Ellen is my rock and my three kids have been right behind her. Luckily the law changed in 2010 and there is no longer a life time. This still does not help with all my medical bills.

The hospital was kind enough to put me on a payment plan. However, in February of this year I developed Kidney problems and spent two weeks in the hospital plus have been going weekly for various treatments. The good news is my cancer is still in remission. The bad news is the medical bills continue to climb. I have a very hard time making ends meet.

I have a caring bridge web site that also tells my story http://www.caringbridge.org/ the web site name is reedwhitener. The hospital where I had my transplants also told my story and the web site is http://www.massey.vcu.edu/reed's-story.htm. I encourage you to please visit both. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Reed
