Lace Up for Luke is a 5K Walk/Run with concessions and kids carnival to benefit Luke Schoenbauer, my 3rd grade student who is battling Osteosarcoma (bone cancer). He underwent a leg amputation and reattachment in March.

Luke has inspired me to "Live Strong!"  Luke is one of my 3rd grade students at St. Wenceslaus School in New Prague, and he is bravely fighting his battle with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer).  He was diagnosed in December and began chemotherapy soon after.  In March, Luke had his left leg amputated and part of it reattached through an amazing procedure called rotationplasty.  He will continue chemotherapy through the summer and will receive a prosthetic leg.  Luke is kind, sweet, tough, and brave.  He and his family are a true example of faith, hope, and love.  They inspire many and are able to make others laugh, even on their toughest days.

Saturday, June 5th is the Lace Up For Luke event!  I wanted to plan this event as a way for so many with healthy bodies to support Luke and his family.  Plus, it will be fun!  The 5K Walk/Run will raise money for Luke's medical expenses and the future prostheses he will need as he grows.   The event will be held at the New Prague High School track (inside the school if there is bad weather), with registration beginning at 8 am.  There will be two start times for the 5K walk/run (9:00 & 10:30), concessions, and a kids carnival.  All are welcome to participate, attend, donate, or pray to make the event a success!

I promise to do the 5K run with strength, determination, and a grateful heart.   Thank you for pledging me in this cause so dear to my heart.  Your generosity is also an inspiration.
