Larry's friends and family are trying to help him through rehab until he's able to work again.

Last fall on his birthday, Larry was admitted to the hospital with severe leg pain. After countless tests, he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome. Larry is a set tailor, costumer/dresser, wardrobe supervisor, & costume shop supervisor for film, TV and theatre and a very hard worker. After a decent stretch working on a few great projects, he had paid off all of his debt and had about 3 months of savings to make it through the tough times. Well, there's nothing left. He was hospitalized for 2 months between 3 hospitals and has approximately 6 months of rehab to go before he can return to work.

GBS is an auto-immune syndrome that can attack anyone. It hits a completely healthy person and quickly destroys the nervous system causing excruciating pain and left Larry completely paralyzed from the neck down. Luckily, the expensive, life-saving treatments worked and halted the progression of the syndrome before it spread to his lungs and brain. Being inactive for such a long time caused the muscles to atrophy from disuse and he lost 30 pounds of muscle mass. This requires extensive rehab to return to normal functioning and to regain the ability to walk again. Larry is currently in a wheelchair and hopes to graduate to a walker soon. :-)

The total cost is well over $500,000 and counting, thankfully most of which is covered by insurance. Unfortunately, the co-pays for a dozen drugs, plus over-the-counter drugs, and multiple visits every week from the visiting nurse and physical therapist is adding a lot to his monthly expenses. There's also some that insurance is not covering as well as everyday expenses like rent, gas & electricity, phone, etc. This has made it impossible to meet his monthly bills. He will not be able to return to work until late Spring or early Summer and needs a little help to make ends meet.

This could happen to any one of us at any time and we, Larry's good friends, are asking you to give what you can. It doesn't matter the amount...it will go to good use to keep him going until he can work again, hopefully as soon as next Spring. Any of you that know Larry know that he would not ask this himself. He's usually the first one to help someone else out. Maybe we can help him a little.
