We have joined forces with Assistance Dogs for Autism to help get our son a service dog. Please show your support! Every little bit helps!
We are VERY happy to announce that we have a received an anonymous donation for the remaining funds needed for Jaden's dog! We are now on the the waiting list anxiously awaiting his dog, who Jaden would like to name Pepper! Thank you everyone for your contributions.
Jaden is a 5 years old boy living with Autism. He has many obstacles he has to overcome on a daily basis. His major problems associated with his autism include a significant speech delay, lack of socialization, inability to sense danger and impulsivity. He is currently in multiply therapies and school to help him with these major issues and concerns. An Autism service dog is another opportunity to help our son be able to contribute to society one day.
There are many things in Jadens daily life that we believe a service dog can help him with. First and foremost having a dog help him with his lack of sensing danger is very important to us. Jaden will run into a busy street or into strangers at a store without the awareness that it is dangerous. His father and I fear he will get hurt one day without this sense of danger. A service dog can help keep our son out of danger and our minds at ease. Jaden also has difficulty with social interaction with both family and peers a service dog will help him expand and strengthen his relationships and possibly give him confidence to create new ones. Social interaction will help him to contribute to society one day. Jaden also has a significant speech delay, a service dog may help him broaden his communication skills and evolve his vocabulary. Jaden is also in ABA therapy to help improve his play skills. He is working hard with imaginative play and we have seen a lot of progress. A service dog will only help to expand his new found play skills. We as a family are very excited about the possibility of welcoming a service dog into our lives.
Thank you very much!
