Healing Touch in Bolivia This is a fundraiser that will send a pair of helping-hands (mine) to a pediatric-trauma facility in Bolivia. I am currently a nursing student nearing the end of my education, and your donations will help make this possible.

Healing Touch in Bolivia

Hi Everyone!

I'm trying to go to Bolivia to do a service internship this summer. This is a medical/healthcare internship located in the small territory of Cocachamba, Bolivia, and it is sponsored by Projects Abroad (see link). The hospital that I will be assigned to is a pediatric-trauma/burn unit that has only FIFTEEN beds!

With the most limited resources and a very modest staff, this hospital needs all the help it can get. But as a nursing student nearing the end of my education, my funds are dwindling.

Your donations can help me get to Bolivia to offer a helping hand. (Expected expenses are listed below):

Room and Board (host family): 3,295.00

Spanish courses: 1,325.00

Due to the project's intensity, this internship has a minimum service requirement of 3 months. It offers hands-on experience in healthcare, and it also offers a paralell assignment in Spanish-studies that will increase my fluency. This will be an awesome opportunity to give help and gain experience at the same time!

As a future healthcare provider for the U.S., cultural tolerance is obviously an invaluable attribute. The U.S. is truly a melting pot of different religions, skin-colors, tongues, and customs, and all of these things help to determine how a patient receives healthcare. So, the more I expand my cultural knowledge, the better I will be able to communicate with patients, and the better provider I can be.   This will hopefully be the first of many experiences in which I can offer service and also expand my cultural awareness. Please know that any donation is greatly appreciated, and I will update this site on exactly how the monies are spent. Keep checking back, people!

One Love :)
