On December 31, 2003, Lavicia Rudeseal Ballew was injured in an automobile accident as a result of domestic violence. This resulted in her having a Spinal Cord Injury. Over the last 9 years, she has overcame all odds that doctors had given her. She was told that she would be completely paralyzed and never walk again. She has proved that diagnosis to be wrong and has since regained feeling and movement. She is still dependent on a wheelchair most of the time, but she can walk a few steps with a walker however, she cannot balance. We are trying to raise enough funds to get her into a Spinal Cord Recovery Program called Project Walk Atlanta. Project Walk focuses on people with Spinal Cord Injuries in helping them to get out of the chair and improve their quality of life. Lavicia has never given up her dream to walk. Not everyone is able to go to Project Walk; to attend it cost an average $100 an hour. They DO NOT bill insurance therefore, for this single mother on disability it is not possible without help. Lavicia has applied for a grant through the Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Trust Fund for $5000 but is unsure at this time if she will be awarded the grant. Still that is only 50 hours of recovery time if she is able to receive it.
Any donations here will be greatly appreciated and will be used for her recovery at Project Walk Atlanta.
Thank you and God Bless!
