The family and friends of Mike Groves are uniting to raise money to help with his battle against cancer. Please show your support!

... On February 18th 2012, Mike Groves heard the words "This doesn't look good"...

Mike was at Warren Memorial Hospital ER because of passing out at home. He later found out that he was anemic due to the tumor that was growing in him. This information answered a lot of questions as to "why do I feel this way" and "where is this pain coming from".
On February 20th a colonoscopy was performed along with a biopsy to confirm that it in fact was:

"Stage 3 Rectal Cancer".

Mike was referred to UVA Hospital in Charlottesville, VA and Dr. Charles Friel. Dr. Friel along with the team of Dr. Bill Houck Jr. and Dr. Bruce Flax decided to attack the cancer aggressively with both Radiation AND Chemo Therapy. Two Months of Chemo Therapy along with 28 radiation treatments to hopefully shrink the tumor.
The next step is surgery to remove the tumor sometime in August.

Throughout this entire life-changing event, Mike has remained positive and his spirit has been bright and uplifting in a situation where it’s easy to become negative and depressive. Mike continues to work FULL TIME at his job in Sterling, VA and also works part time on the weekends playing music with his band Wagfoot. He has had an amazing support group with Family and Friends. His Fiancé, Hallie Saddler has been the most amazing care giver anyone could ask for. Mike knows how truly blessed he is with each passing day and is so very thankful for all of the support, thoughts and prayers that have occurred on his behalf.

Now we have the chance to give back and help with the ongoing medical expenses. We've set what we feel is a very reachable goal. This will help to cover any out of pocket expenses prior to and after his surgery, during his 6 to 8 week recovery period and any post-op follow up appointments and or procedures. So if you have the means to give, it will be greatly appreciated and if you do not have the means to give financially, we ask that you keep Mike in your thoughts and prayers and if you'd like to, share this fundraising link with a friend. Mike is a firm believer that God will supply all of his needs as He has done so far.

Cancer costs an average of $712 a month in out-of-pocket expenses for those who have health insurance. These out-of-pocket expenses include things like co-pays; travel to and from treatment and prescriptions. Mike was like most people, when finding out they have cancer, they are unprepared to handle this kind of expense on their own. You can help reduce the stress of this cost by contributing to this Give Forward fundraiser for our friend, Mike.

We truly do thank you for your support and prayers.
