This is the "we love Deanna, John, and Kai lots and lots and lots" fund

John Clauson is at Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital in Denver fighting Acute Myelomonocytic Leukemia, also known as AML-M4.

John just underwent his third round of chemo at PSL in Denver. He is at almost zero immune system right now and we are waiting for his blood counts to come back and hoping they are healthy and without any leukemic cells.

Prior to this, he spent 28 days in the hospital in Durango at Mercy, where he underwent 2 rounds of chemo.

John has a tougher form of leukemia to cure and the best solution is for him to receive a bone marrow transplant. We hope that this round of chemo will put the leukemia in temporary remission long enough for John to get ready for a transplant.

John has been a ski patroller for 17 years and a whitewater rafting guide for 23 years. During the winter he is the Assistant Snow Safety Director at Silverton Mountain, and he previously was a ski patroller at Copper Mountain for 11 years. In the summer he works for AVA Rafting in Buena Vista. He and his wife Deanna have a 5-year-old son, Kai.

John has a lot going for him in this fight - he is young and in great shape. He is strong of both mind and body. He is keeping an incredibly determined and positive attitude.

Every single one of your thoughts, prayers, and messages gives us the strength to fight this battle.

Please follow their story and post messages for the Clausons at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/johnclauson.

Even if all goes well, John will likely be out of work for at least a year. They will also need to live in Denver for a number of months after his bone marrow transplant. Although they have good health insurance there will be substantial costs to the family in the next year. Thank you so much for your help.
