Family and friends of Devin Noland are coming together to get her a RT300 bike

Devin Noland is a 16 year old girl with a disease called Transverse Myelitis which is a neurological disorder. She was diagnosed two an half years ago. It is caused by an inflammation across the spinal cord. Devin is paralyzed from her waist down.

One of Devin's first therapies after she was diagnosed was using the RT300 bike. The RT300 bike helps with the reversal of atrophy. It also improves local blood circulation, increases range of motion, and reduces muscle spasms. Devin take medication for muscle spasms but it is not very effective.

Devin was always a very active young girl. She was on the school basketball team and enjoyed running around with her brothers and sisters. In June of 2009 summer had just began, plans were being made for summer activities and fun in the sun with friends and family. she was getting ready to be a teenager in a few weeks. So much to look forward to!!

June 12th 2009 Devin woke up with severe pain in her lower back, she toke some pain medication and layed down. Thirty minutes later she said her legs felt like they were numb, another fifteen minutes she couldn't move them. The paramedics were called and she was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital. The hospital did some tests and decided Devin needed to be life flighted to Akron Children's Hospital. She was there for about two weeks. While there she had multiple MRI's, a spinal tap and blood tests. She was finally diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis. Devin was transferred to Pittsburgh Children's Institute where she stayed for about three months. Here they did physical therapy and helped her get used to life in a wheelchair. This is where she was introduced to the RT300 bike. The RT300 bike was very effective with her rehabilitation but it was time to go home and continue therapy there.

Devin has continued therapy after returning home but without much success some of which can be attributed to not having access to equipment such as the bike. The therapy places that are available to her locally are wonderful but do not have the equipment she needs.

Devin has stayed very positive since day one. There has not been a day where her heads not held high. She really is an amazing girl that had this disease hit her out of nowhere. We have tried everything to get her the bike bu nothing has worked . We would greatly appreciate your generous donations and encouraging words.
