Thank you for your assistance and prayers!

At the beginning of 2011, Rahheem began noticing that the vision in his left eye was rapidly deteriorating. (He had completely lost the vision in his right eye about a decade ago). It started seriously disrupting his ability to function, so he decided to get it checked out. After a period of several months, it was found that he had a mass in his brain. He underwent brain surgery to determine what this mass was in his brain that was taking his vision.

In August 2011 after his brain surgery, he was diagnosed with an EXTREMELY rare brain tumor called Lymphoplasma-cyte rich Meningioma. There is no research regarding this tumor, its treatment, or its prognosis. His oncologists decided to start chemotherapy, and so far Rahheem has undergone 7 treatments. In the midst of the chaos of coping with Rahheem's vision loss, brain surgery/recovery, and chemo treatments, I was also pregnant with our first child, who was born November 2011. Of course this added much more stress and difficulty to the already stressful situation. In addition, I became unemployed June 2011 and was unable to find any other employment. Rahheem was unable to work past August 2011 due to his vision loss and has not been able to work since. The only income we have had for the past year has been his Social Security Disability.

We have since had to move across the country to live with family temporarily while we attempt to rebuild our lives. Rahheem's local oncologist has recommended he go out of state to Duke University to receive the best care in this region of the country. We will be responsible for all travel expenses for these trips and possibly some medical expenses since it is not guaranteed that his insurance will cover all the out-of-state medical costs.

We appreciate any assistance you might be able to give to help with these expenses and for security as we get our little family back on our feet. We also believe in the power of prayer and God's healing, and ask for your prayers as we continue to navigate this difficult time of learning to cope with vision loss, looking for jobs, deal with doctors and treatment, and adapt to parenting our precious little guy.

Thank you again for your love, support, and prayers. We love you all!
Rahheem, Alison, and Malachi Wofford
