Friends and family of Michelle Hammond want to provide her with the happiness and comfort that she has so long deserved.

My mother spent a majority of her adult life caring for kids who had no other place to go. She placed the needs of her own children, and other children, before her own. She didn't seek happiness for herself until recent years.

There are young adults across this nation who call her Llama. They are the ones whose families hurt them, threw them out or simply didn't care about them. They are the ones she welcomed into her home, clothed, fed and made sure that they became amazing and accomplished adults.

For over 20 year she has never taken a break. She has always worked. She has always helped others. Until 5 years ago, she had never done anything for herself. For 2 years she was able to do what she wanted and needed to be happy, and then it was all taken away.

This year she celebrated her 5th wedding anniversary to a military man who she loves, who loves her, and stands beside her. When she moved to Alaska she got a job she loved, moved through the ranks and bought a home she loved with the expectation that she would be able to spend years making it her dream home. Almost 2 years ago she was blessed with her first grandchild. She has had too few years to enjoy happiness.

Two years ago she was diagnosed with stage four cervical cancer. The outlook is bleak. She can no longer work. She will never get her dream house. Her time with her husband will be short. She's barely had a chance to get to know her only grandchild.

We've all come together to support her in her time of need. We've tried everything to continue the happiness she's earned. We need help to continue our mission. We can't afford furniture comfortable enough for her to sit in. We can't afford the part time nursing care she needs. We can't afford the high quality food she needs. We can longer pay the mortgage on the house she put her heart into renovating. We're hoping that the generosity of others will help us to make her comfortable, to keep her happy, and to help repay her what she gave to countless others. We all thank you for your support. Her friends. Her family. All those who she's helped support, for so long.
