Please help contribute toward Justin Lohr's kidney transplant and help raise Kidney Awareness!

Justin is a fun-loving, outgoing, unselfish, hilarious 28 year old and this is how his story began.

In January 2003, when Justin was 19 years old, he went to the doctor after experiencing a night of nausea and dizziness. Justin had an uncle, Bill, which was also diagnosed with Renal Failure at the early age of 19, and the doctor thought it would be wise to run some blood tests. After reviewing the kidney levels the doctor diagnosed Justin with Alport Syndrome (an inherited disorder that damages the tiny blood vessels in the kidneys and causes them to deteriorate) and told him he would die from this. Justin refused to give up and sought a 2nd opinion. The second doctor verified that Justin did have Alport Syndrome, but put Justin on a strict diet to help suppress the progression of the disease. Justin maintained the diet for a few years.

In April 2006 Justin's condition progressed into CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease). Justin immediately began peritoneal dialysis and was placed on the Transplant list in October of 2006. Everyone was trying to wait patiently, including Justin, but there are so many daily things people take for granted. Justin couldn't go places and stay out with friends, go swimming, eat the foods he wanted to eat. At that time he had a strict schedule and had to be home for dialysis 12 hours a day. The wait finally ended when Justin found a donor match from a family member, and had his transplant in January 2008. The surgery was a success and everyone was ecstatic. Justin had a sense of Freedom again, and everything was going well.

In October 2010 Justin began feeling ill, and decided to see the doctor on the morning of Halloween. He was informed that his body was rejecting the kidney and was feeling ill due to all of the toxins in his blood. Justin was admitted to the hospital in April 2011, and had the transplanted kidney removed.

Justin now has progressed to ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease), is back on the Transplant list and continues with dialysis 10 hours a day. He was very recently admitted to ICU on August 2nd 2012 after having post-operative complications due to other medical issues. Justin is now back at home, but we CAN NOT just sit here and let Justin fight this fight alone. JUSTIN WOULD FIGHT WITH AND FOR ALL OF US!

Throughout all of this, Justin has kept his spirits high and is always trying to bring a smile to other's faces. The most serious moment I have ever shared with him is when I recently asked, "Justin, what is something you would like to share with people about yourself or about your disease?" His response was, "Dialysis isn't a life, but it is what's keeping me alive. I take every day for what it's worth, because I never know what day will be my last."

Something I want everyone to know is, Justin is a wonderful guy and a very hard worker. He would never ask for help, and that is why we are trying to raise this money for him. He is not one to open a hand for his own benefit, but will offer a hand to anyone else in need.

Please help us support Justin and raise Kidney Awareness for all others in need!
