Robin's children are hosting this online fund-raiser to help her in her battle against the life-threatening disease of Sarcoidosis.

The money will be used to help pay expenses associated with her visit to the Sarcoidosis Center at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Robin lives in Georgia, and cannot find adequate medical personel (doctors) who know enough about this rare disease of Sarcoidosis to treat her properly, and therefore must travel to Ohio. Her Husband, who is her faithful caregiver, will be taking FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) time from work, which is unpaid leave, to accompany her to Ohio. Robin has had Sarcoidosis for over 20 years and the disease has affected many of the organs in her body, including causing her to go blind 3 years ago. At this time, she is practically confined to a wheelchair, due to extreme fatigue, pain, and Diabetic Neuropathy. To make this long trip more comfortable for Robin, we are planning to rent a motor home so that she can lie down when she needs to. Any funds in excess of the amount we personally need for this medical trip, will be used to develop Robin's dream of a non-profit foundation for Sarcoidosis Awareness and Research. Together we can make a difference!

Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease thought to be associated with an abnormal immune response. It can affect any organ in the body and can result in destruction of the organs involved. The cause of this disease is unknown and while there are treatments available, there is no cure. In Robin's case, it affected her eyes, eventually causing blindness. Her lungs as well as other organs have also been affected. Sarcoidosis is as insidious as any Cancer, generally without the recognition. Most people simply do not realize the facts about Sarcoidosis, including many doctors.
