Tater Tot got a 2nd chance at life when he was 6 months old. Now he needs your help for a chance to live his life free of debilitating pain.

When Tater Tot was 6 months old, he had a procedure to repair his faulty heart valve. That procedure saved his life. Last week, Tater Tot, who’s not quite 2 years old, woke up screaming in pain and was rushed to the emergency vet. At first they thought he had ingested something, but x-rays revealed nothing.

Tater continued to have intermittent bouts of extreme pain for the next few days. Pain medication helped minimally. Steroids were out of the question due to his heart problems.

On April 18, Tater again woke up crying in pain and this time was unable to lift his head. Doctors suspect he may have a disc problem and have recommended an MRI to help diagnose the source of his pain.

On Monday, April 23rd, Tater Tot will travel to Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in Columbus to see a neurologist. If necessary, he will have an MRI the next day. The results of his MRI should help doctors make a more accurate diagnosis and determine a course of treatment.

Meanwhile, Tater Tot’s medical bills continue to grow. The MRI alone will likely exceed $2,000. Greater Chicago Cavalier Rescue is a small non-profit consisting entirely of volunteers. We need your help to raise funds for the mounting medical expenses for Tater Tot and other special needs fosters, like Lucy, who takes daily medication for her epileptic seizures, and Frankie Two-Paws, who’s paralyzed from the waist down and requires ongoing therapies.

Many of you helped Tater Tot get a second chance at life when he was 6 months old. With your help, let’s give him a chance to live that life free of debilitating pain.
