The family and friends of Morgan Tankersley are uniting to raise money to help Morgan become more independent. Please show your support.

Morgan was born at 29 weeks via emergency C-section, along with her twin, Meghan. During Morgan’s first week of life, we were told Morgan would not survive, but with the grace of God and the incredible talents of the doctors and nurses at Dallas Presbyterian Hospital, she did survive. The girls were not released from the hospital until 3 months later. Although, Meghan is normal, Morgan had lack of oxygen at birth for several minutes which caused some brain damage that resulted in Cerebral Palsy.

We have been very blessed to have Morgan in our life. She makes us laugh everyday with her sense of humor and her love of all things for children. Although her body is 15, she still believes in Santa, the Easter Bunny and that all the characters on TV are real. (We think she knows the truth, but she really loves them and gets mad if you tell her otherwise). For example, Morgan recently decided we are all moving to Florida after she graduates high school so we can all work at Disney World with the characters.

As a family, we work hard to try to make her life as normal as possible, but she is confined to a mobile wheelchair and has limited interaction with people outside her family and her class at school. For the last 15 years, we have carried Morgan to our car or truck and we have used a stroller at locations outside our home. Morgan has finally requested that we get a van so she can bring her power chair. This is huge! In the past, she has not felt confident enough to be on her own in her chair other than the house, the school and the neighborhood. Friends and colleagues at Longmont Hospital recommended we do something we have never done before – ask for help through the use of a website they encourage their patients to use.

So humbly, we are asking for your help and support to raise funds to help cover half the cost of a wheelchair accessible van. Morgan is 15 now and would like to be able to take her power chair to the store, park, zoo, or any place that makes her feel happy.

If you would like to and are able to help with this, it would be great. Please just click Donate Now on this page. If not, we understand and thank you for taking the time to read this and ask that you please forward this link to people you know. We would like to reach out to family, friends, and their family and friends; so that you can say I know this little girl and her family personally.

Thank you in advance for your help, thoughts and prayers. Have a great day!
