The family and friends of Michael Pedraza are uniting to raise money to help him fight his battle with a rare type of cancer. Please help!

My cousin Michael Pedraza was diagnosed a few months ago with a rare high grade tumor called Epithelioid Sarcoma. He has undergone one surgery in August to remove a large portion of the tumor from his left posterior hip that involved his sciatic nerve, but unfortunately they couldn't get it all at that time. There was a portion that had metastasized through to the anterior pelvis. This is a very aggressive cancer and does not respond to chemo or radiation therapy. The only cure is for removal with clear margins. He underwent another radical surgery on Oct. 30th 2012 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston in an attempt to do this. I am thrilled to say that after 8 hours of surgery they were successful at removing all visible tumor. But as they removed the tumor, they also removed more sciatic nerve, a portion of the pelvis, and harvested nerve in the right leg in attempt to graft left sciatic nerve. He is currently recovering in the ICU due to complex medical issues. Michael has a long road to recovery ahead of him. Michael & his wife Jennifer are faced with multiple financial hurdles which include but are not limited to: paying current household bills while Jennifer is out on leave, finding a way for future costs associated with rehab, frequent follow up appointments with medical providers in Houston, and paying for those items not covered by insurance. Michael is a beautiful person with a heart of gold. Please donate and help Michael on his road to recovery! No donation is too small. Thank you and God Bless.
