This is the "Help Bring Slinky Longfellow Home" Fund. The funds will be used to help sustain Slinky's medical cost and care.

7-28-11 Update: Slinky is FINALLY home!!! I brought him home this evening. His brother and sister were SOOOO happy to see him, as was he to see them and be home! :) He has to return to the vet Monday for x-rays (to recheck his lungs) and blood work, but so far, so good! He will also continue his antibiotics for 2-3 more weeks. We are so THANKFUL to have him home!!! This has been a difficult time and we are very grateful to all who have been so supportive.

7-26-11 Update: Slinky is continuing to make baby steps of improvement. His breathing is now under 100 (30-40 is normal). He is being transported to UGA today for further observation and treatment. Hopefully, we've turned the corner and he will continue to recover (sooner, rather than later). Thank you again for all the thoughts and prayers!

Hi all,
Our sweet baby Slinky is only 9 months old, but has been at Cobb Emergency Veterinary Clinic since Tuesday night. They think he has a severe case of pneumonia, but just can't get a handle on it. His breathing is fast, almost 200 over the normal number of breaths per minute and he is not stable enough to come out of the oxygen room. The doctor mentioned euthanization last night, but after seeing our sweet baby we just couldn't do it. He WANTS to live and is fighting so hard! How can we give up on him now?

We've prayed and prayed and asked God to give us a sign. Finally the doctor called this morning and said he's looking a little better! He said we stuck with him at his worst so he would recommend we stick with him now. He may, MAY be on the upswing. He told us not to get our hopes up just yet, but that he was seeing positive signs. He has to remain at the hospital on oxygen 24/7 and with all the medications and care they provide, we are paying out almost $1000 a day to help our baby stay alive. We are almost $5000 in so far and almost out of money. Even if he is on the start of getting better, we have at least a week to go in the ER. That could be another $5-7,000.00.

We just don't have it and at this point we are not going to be too proud to ask for help. If anyone is willing and able to make a donation on his behalf, we will be eternally grateful and plan to "give forward" in the future.

Thank you in advance for any help provided and we will take all the prayers we can get.
