The Ladori family is looking for your support to help George with medical and living expenses as he battles cancer.

Our dad, George Ladori, has been battling cancer for nearly four years and it has had a tremendous impact on him physically, mentally and financially, especially in recent months.  He is a fighter and has maintained a great attitude through all of it, but now needs some help from family and friends.  Any help you can provide is greatly, greatly appreciated by him and our family. Here is what he has gone through in recent years.

In early 2009, Dad was diagnosed with cancer after doctors discovered a tumor that was believed to be non-aggressive in his left kidney. Later that year he had surgery to remove his kidney. After the surgery, the doctors discovered that it was a rare form of cancer that was very aggressive and originated in his bladder, where there were also tumors. At the same time, a recurrence of colon cancer was discovered and he underwent surgery to have more of his colon removed. Following this surgery, he was preparing for treatment and/or surgery on his bladder when the doctors, to their amazement, determined that the tumors on his bladder "went away". After considering some "preventative" chemo treatments, Dad opted instead to continue monitoring it with regular scans.

In late 2011, Dad felt a lump around his neck and collar bone. The doctors determined that his previous cancer returned in his lymph nodes around his neck. After several months of chemo and radiation, and all the related side effects (hair loss, fatigue, various pains, etc.), these treatments were not effective and Dad decided to have surgery to remove the cancer from this location. It was a 4+ hour surgery with a 12 inch incision starting on the side of his neck (just under his ear) down his neck to the center at his collar bone. This surgery was successful in removing the softball-sized tumor. Dad was in the hospital for a couple of weeks to recover. Following that, he underwent radiation daily for 4 weeks to kill off any remaining cancer cells. One of the side effects of radiation was injury to his salivary glands, and he was no longer able to taste food. Ever since then, he has not been able to eat much. That aside, the cancer appeared to be gone until tumors appeared in his back this summer.  He went through chemo and radiation once again, but this time around it really impacted Dad's strength, his appetite and general physical health. Following several treatments for his back, a new scan recently found cancer in his liver and lungs.

At this point, Dad is not receiving any more treatments, but we are continuing to research clinical trials and other medical opinions as he tries to regain his strength. In a relatively short period of time, he has lost 75 pounds and has very little strength to get around the house. Through all of this he has maintained a great attitude, but the impact physically, mentally and financially has been huge. He is self-employed and his ability to work through all of this has slowly declined, and the last 2 months he has been unable to work at all. The funds raised here will be used to help continue to pay for his health care, monthly bills (utilities, etc.) and day-to-day needs.

We appreciate any support you can provide, and thank you in advance for your generosity.
