This is the Dustin Powell Fight Club. All funds will be used for Dustins medical costs and related expenses not covered by insurance.

Dustin has been your typical 13 year old boy. Able to do all the things he wishes to do. Sports, family fun, and a complete wiz in every game station you put in front of him.

However, in recent happenings, in what the doctors had orignally thought to be only pneumonia, has, after many tests and a surgery, been confirmed to be a cancer.

The doctors have said that he has had this "tumor" for years. They believe somehow the tumor erupted, causing infection to spread the signs to become more evident.

After several trips to the family doctor, and still no sign of his symptoms easing after medication, he was taken to the UK Childrens Hospital for further evaluation. After x-rays, ultrasounds, and a CT Scan it was determined that is not pneumonia, but a mass in his torso/chest area. This mass has caused fluid build up in not only his chest cavity, but has also gotten in his lungs which has caused his right lung to collapse.

He has recently undergone extensive surgery. This surgery included getting a bone marrow sample, a biopsy, insertion of a chest tube and a picc line.

Even after all that this 13 year old boy has been through, he is still head strong enough to be so adamanent about doing things on his own still. He does not want to be treated as helpless. This is a very enlightening sign that he refuses to be "labeled" as sick.

As you can imagine, this would hit any parent like a ton of brick. His mother just recently had Dustin a baby sister, which means she has used most of her FMLA time. This then leaves only one working parent in the home, trying to provide and care for two other children.

They have yet to determine what "type" of cancer it is at this moment, so their future plans on how treatment will occur is undecided.

The Dustion Powell Fight Club is just what is states. Please help Dustin and his family to fight this terrible unforeseen disease.
