The family and friends of Leanne Coombes, are uniting to raise money to aid her in her battle with stage 4 breast cancer.

We need to raise $30,000 to help Leanne get to a clean bill of health.

My sister is 41 years old and waging her third battle with breast cancer. For those of you who know Leanne, you know you are among the fortunate ones. She lights up a room with her smile and infectious laugh. She’s a loving wife and mother, and a truly good friend.

Leanne was diagnosed with breast cancer in the fall of 2006. She was 36 years old, with 2 preschool children. Surgery and radiation were performed. In December of 2008, more cancer was found in her chest tissue and lymph nodes, hence more surgery and 6 months of chemotherapy. This spring, pain started in her arm. Bone and CT scans showed metastasis to her upper arm bone, spine, and liver. Her oncologist explained that the only treatment available to her via the Canadian Health Care system is more radiation and chemo, but these are not a cure for stage 4 cancer. She refused to believe that there was no other option.

Leanne is passionate in her belief that alongside medical treatments, the road to recovery is a combination of high nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. Along with her husband, Brian, they consulted with oncologists, naturopathic oncologists, and MDs. They believe they found the treatment center that will aid her return to complete health with a combination of conventional and alternative treatments. It is located in Santa Barbara, California, so the costs are not covered by the Canadian Healthcare system. It is a remarkable center with over 50 years of experience treating cancer patients. Visit the center’s website to see their incredible work.

Leanne’s expenses for the 4 weeks spent at the treatment center were close to $30,000 which included: regular consultations with an M.D. and N.D.; tumour tracking via blood tests & X-rays; numerous detoxification and immune strengthening treatments; and medical treatment created specifically for her. When she returns home, many of her ongoing treatment costs will not be covered by the Canadian Health Care System. Her goal is to get her cancer into remission, keep a close watch on her health for the first year after treatment, then return to the work force in order to earn the money she will need to pay for further ongoing treatments.

If you are not in a financial position to donate, please pass this along to any survivors or other empathetic givers you might know, and hit the “hugs” tab to send your support in a message to Leanne.
We are truly grateful for your love and support.
