The family and friends of TIm Couturier are uniting to raise money to help with his battle against laryngeal cancer!

In October of 2010 Tim Couturier developed a hoarse voice. It was close to the cold and flu season of the year and his doctors at the time attributed it to that. Unfortunately, as time went on it didn't get better.

With much encouragement Tim finally agreed to see another doctor. Dr. Goulet immediately referred him to Dr. Klim, an Ear Nose and Throat doctor.

At the first office visit in February Dr.Klim used a scope to look down Tim's throat. That is when he saw a mass. Tim was quickly scheduled for a biopsy. His first biopsy was at the end of April in 2011. The results of this biopsy were inconclusive. For the mean time the doctors decided they would keep a close eye Tim.

As time went on the hoarseness returned and TIm had a second biopsy in October 2011. The results of this biopsy showed that Tim had advanced stage II Laryngeal Cancer. He was referred to Dr. Duelge in Iron Mountain for radiation therapy. He underwent 29 radiation treatments between November 10th and December 23rd. He drove 125 miles (round trip) each time for his treatments making a total of 32 trips in that time.

January 31st is his first check up after the radiation treatment. We are hoping for a clean bill of health.

Do to the intense treatment schedule and side effects of radiation Tim has not been able to work and he does not have medical insurance. While we are thankful for the time that we have and the care he has received we are hoping for a brighter future. Our family thanks you for all of your support, donations and prayers.

And because we believe in ending on a good note: Tim has been smoke free since October 2011 and his wife since May 2011. Way to go Tim and Marcia!

Thanks again,

The extended Couturier family
