I'm a Mom who has been to Iraq but my son faces a way bigger fight for his life. Help arm us with resources we need to defend him.

My husband and I are both serving in the United States Air Force. I have served two tours in support of our war in Iraq and my husband could be deployed at any time. I have helped many hero's as they fight for thier life but when it comes to my son Evan I feel he is the biggest fighter of them all. He has undergone many surgeries with such bravery. He spent the first year of his life in physical therapy showing his unwavering dedication while learning to walk even though the doctors said that he might not develop this skill until much later in life. You see, Evan Davis has just recently beaten the odds. As of June 24, 2012 he is now 2 years old! And though that doesn't sound like a big event to most people, for our son it truly is. You see 50% of all prune belly syndrome children lose their fight by the age of 2. This monumental event has elevated our family and we are now looking to attend a national conference on Prune Belly Syndrome. With Evan being sick so often and his care frequently requiring trips to a hospital 180 miles away in Columbus; the time we have lost at work and the rising costs of transportation and care have placed many financial constraints on our family. At this conference there will be doctors that have specialized and have published papers on PBS, which is almost unheard of. PBS is an orphaned and extremely rare disease that claims too many victims mainly because there is no standard of care. Prune Belly Syndrome Network is working toward a standard of care and toward bringing families together that probably have never met another like theirs. Try to imagine being so completely different and having never met anyone like yourself. This event will afford our family invaluable medical information, and as a parent; that is what we need to be armed with in order to be Evans greatest advocate. For Evan and his siblings it will be an opportunity to be not so different, even if only for a few days. Help change Evan's life while you arm us with the resources we need to defend him.  Our wish is that people will donate towards meeting this goal and towards Evan’s continued care. Any assistance that anyone may provide is greatly appreciated by our family. Your anticipated support is so greatly appreciated. If you would prefer to mail a check, you may do so in Evan's name and send to: The Davis Family, PO Box 9364, Youngstown, OH, 44513. Sincerely The Davis Family
