This fundraiser will help pay Kimberly's expenses during her surgical recovery. Please help support her during this time. Thank you!

Sometimes all of us need a little help from our friends -- even the most self-sufficient of us. Kimberly Bailey is such a person. She has a smile as big as the State of Texas, and she has a way about her that makes a room brighter when she enters it. In addition to that dazzling smile, Kimberly is a hard working entrepreneur – a business owner, and she enjoys her hobbies. She enjoys rock climbing, hiking, and participating in dog sports with her beautiful yellow lab, Simon. Kimberly has been diagnosed with a rare form (1%) of breast cancer. Her type of cancer is among the fasting growing cancers, and it has a high incidence of recurrence.

So, on September 12, 2012, Kimberly’s surgical team will be preforming her ten-hour surgery. She will have a double mastectomy and reconstruction to keep the cancer from recurring. Since Kimberly is self-employed, she has no paid sick days or FMLA days. Yet during her time off for surgery and her six week recovery, her bills still have to be paid. In addition, her insurance charges with a high deductible and out of pocket will run around $5,000. Her six-week recovery expenses will include two month’s mortgage payments, insurance, utilities, phone, etc. Kimberly is very self sufficient, but she can’t sustain these expenses during her recovery because she won’t be able to use her arms for six weeks. Therefore, her income will not be there. After her recovery, Kimberly will be back on her feet styling hair, climbing mountains, loving her dog, and flashing that million dollar smile. Hopefully, with a little help from her friends, she won’t be facing a insurmountable mountain of bills.
