I need to have surgery done, however the insurance will only pay around $400, and the surgery cost is almost $13000!

FINAL UPDATE: If you made a donation, you should've received an individual message, and there's been an 'Update' posted under the 'updates' tab, but I thought I should put the final update here. As I posted below, I'll be getting the $3000 in January, and with the money raised here, on ChipIn (which was closed about a month ago, once this page was up & running), and the off-line donations received, I should just about make the $12,307 total for the surgery! It's going to be close, really close (as in within about $200-300 close!) but, there's one more round of fundraising left to go, and I'm pretty sure that I'll make it!

If, by some miracle, I somehow wind up with more than the total for the surgery, any remainder will be used towards the 'unforseen' bills, meaning the bills for the tests (they apparently not only charge for the GI scans, bloodwork & x-rays & ultrasounds, but ALSO charge for the x-ray techs, radiologists, etc. who read them! To me, this seems like paying twice for each test, however apparently this is normal...) I really, REALLY don't think that there will be any additional funds raised, however, I've been forwarned that as the insurance company is considering this 'preventative,' at this point, we don't know just how much of the diagnostic tests (bloodwork, x-rays, scans, scopes, ultrasounds, etc.) will be covered by them, until it's all been submitted.

Anyway, enough about all of that, thank you so much for your support! I can't tell you how much it means!

UPDATE: You may've noticed that the total amount being raised went down substantially. That's because I had a meeting with the financial aid office at the school here yesterday; turns out they screwed up, and didn't have me marked as an 'out of state' student! Meaning that next semester, I'll be receiving a refund of nearly $3,000 more than this semester! Which means, that I have now found 1/2 of the funds I need to make this surgery happen! Trying to stay positive, as this is definitely a step in the right direction, that I honestly had given up hope on!! Thanks also to all my friends, supporters & donors! I can honestly say that all of this would NOT be possible without you! You're all truly amazing people, and I'm so honored to have you in my life!

This has been an ongoing issue: I've had 'unknown stomach issues' for a few years, ranging from upset stomach to nausea & vomiting to pain. And, by pain, I mean curled up in a corner screaming and unable to move pain! I've recently moved to a new area, and finally have insurance, but apparently just a 'basic' policy that literally will not pay for anything but 'life threatening' issues. Meaning, that unless death is unavoidable without the procedure, they don't feel the need to cover it. With the move to the new area, I now also have a preliminary diagnosis: Gallbladder stones & 'sludge,' small hiatal hernia and also need to have a portion of my stomach worked on (ulcers due to the pain meds for the 'unknown issues). My family refuses to help, I make too much to go onto medicaid, and I don't make enough to get 'normal' insurance. I *LITERALLY* have nowhere to turn... While these issues aren't life threatening, it does make it incredibly difficult to function... But, as the insurance company would prefer the doctors to simply just keep giving me the pain meds that are destroying my stomach, as they're 'cheaper,' I really have no options... So, I'm reaching out to the kind people in the world, to see if I can get any assistance with this! Even just sharing my story would help!
