Stop the bank from taking my mom's dream away!

UPDATE: The bank has informed my mom that they intend to sell the house on the 29th. Please help if you can and tell anyone you know who may also help. We have very little time now to head the bank off at the pass. I don't want to see my mother lose her dream. Thank you for any and everything you can do to help!

My mother is one of the many hardworking people in this country who find themselves looking at losing what they’ve worked so hard for. My mom bought her first home six years ago at 44 years of age. She came from a humble background and had to raise two children on her own, so her dream of home ownership had to be deferred again and again. Finally, free from the financial pressures of raising children, she was able to begin saving for a home of her own. When she signed the contract to purchase her house, it was easily one of the happiest days of her life.

Fast-forward a few years through health problems, expensive medical treatments, severe pay cuts and cutbacks in hours and my mom is in danger of having her dream taken from her. She struggled over the past two years but slowly began to fall behind. I helped her as much as I could but, as you can imagine, my own financial obligations limit the help I can provide.

Recently, the bank informed her that they intend to put the house up for a short sale unless she can come up with $12000.

We didn’t know what to do. Honestly, we didn’t think there was anything that could be done. Neither of us have that kind of money. Neither of us have any assets we could liquidate to come up with that kind of money. It seemed all was lost. Then I stumbled upon Give Forward. I decided to follow the advice my mom's given me since I was a boy: nothing beats a failure like a try.

Please, if you can give anything–anything at all–please donate. Don’t let the bankers put yet another hardworking person out on the street. Help my mom save her dream.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for anything you can do to help.
