My family and friends are uniting to raise funds to help my brother win his battle against Leukemia. God bless everyone!!

"A man with a few words but with a big heart”... that’s how we describe my brother Paulo (we called him toto). He was 26 years old when he was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML), too young for a man who just starting to pursue his career and building his dreams.
December 11, 2010, my brother texted me that he’s in a hospital for consult and was referred to emergency room. A week prior to his consult he’s having an on and off fever, gets easily tired with his work, and even lost his appetite. My sister and I rushed to the hospital to check his condition thinking that it’s not that serious. The doctor said it might be Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever and that he must be admitted immediately. Second day in the hospital the doctor said that my brother might be a candidate for Leukemia due to a very high white blood cell count and a very low platelet count and that he must undergo Bone marrow biopsy test to confirm the diagnosis. We were all scared and we almost cried in front of him because I know how he feels inside. December 13, 2010, His cbc results and bone marrow test showed that my brother has AML. I don’t know what to say, I just looked at him and he just bowed down his head. The doctor said he must undergo series of chemotherapy and that his Pneumonia should be treated first. We never stop praying and keeping our faith with the Lord for I know HE is in control. His hair were started to fall out, even lost his appetite and that his body weight went to 47kg. He had several blood transfusions; platelet apheresis and red blood cells which almost took every other day.
My family and I guided him all throughout his treatment and we were overwhelmed for all the people who supported us spiritually, emotionally and financially. We spent almost 2 months in the hospital for his induction and consolidation chemotherapy. February 2011, after his discharge we thought everything was okay since he always has a routine blood test every month that showed normal and the doctor said he is in “remission”.
Until January of 2012 he was admitted again for his blood test showed a very high white blood cell count and that his Pneumonia went back and we were advised that my brother should undergo chemotherapy again for his Leukemia was “relapse”. February he was discharged and this time we were really having a hard time supporting all his medical expenses. Every week he’ll have a blood test to make sure everything is normal. He already had 7 Bone marrow biopsy tests and just this May 2012 he was admitted again for chemotherapy.
He’s close to giving up but ‘we’ his family is never giving up because we know that God could see us and that there are reasons for everything. June 26, he was discharged well however the doctor advised us that he need to undergo chemotherapy again.
September 4, 2012, we went for a cbc check-up and we were all sad to find out that it was relapsed again and right now my brother will undergo another series of chemotherapy and was advised to undergo for Bone marrow Transplant.
My brother toto is a fighter, as he sad “I will win the battle, I will not give up because you’re not giving up”… and my family believes that miracles do happen and that God will never give us trials that we cannot bear. We are keeping our faith and we entrust everything to HIM.

"In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”-Acts 20:35
