Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to help pay the medical bills Brioni will incur as she fights lymphoma.

Please rejoice with us at the Lord's bountiful provision for Brioni. Latest update: Outside donations to help Brioni with her medical expenses now total over $28,000! We rejoice that the Lord knows exactly how much she will need--including for follow-up treatments--we can only estimate. We rest in His perfect knowledge and His promise to provide for the needs of His children. We thank Him for His mercy, and again we thank each of you who has donated to help Brioni and/or who has prayed for God's provision for her. The Lord be gracious to you. "I will praise Thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto Thee among the nations. For Thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and Thy truth unto the clouds. Be Thou exalted, O God, above the heavens....  (Psalm 57:9-11)

Brioni (pronounced bree o’ nee) was bedridden because of CFIDS (Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome) for six years. But with the help of physicians and staff at a special clinic in Kansas, Brioni gained sufficient health and strength to begin pursuing her dream of helping others who were housebound and/or otherwise limited by disease or disability.

Since she also had a love for animals, she decided that, God willing, she would learn how to train service and therapy animals. Barely up from her bedridden state and still struggling with limited stamina and a compromised immune system, Brioni first volunteered to work at a dog kennel/dog obedience training business as kennel cleaner and dog washer. She would work the first half of the day and rest the second half. (When the business was sold, the new owners hired her to continue in that position.)

She was next offered a position assisting a mother who was giving prescribed neurodevelopmental therapy to her daughter. Brioni kept that position for five years, working only once or twice a week because she was still struggling with CFIDS. While working in that position, she began preparatory studies in dog behavior and basic obedience training as a first step toward learning how to train service dogs.

While she was taking her finals for the above coursework, her lower left leg became excruciatingly painful. Used to pain from her CFIDS, she ignored it, completed her finals, and graduated as an honor student. The leg pain continued to strike each time she became ill; still supposing that the pain was connected with her CFIDS, she ignored it and began training the new puppy of a friend stricken with Muscular Dystrophy. She then began volunteer work with a horse riding therapy group. Soon after that, a lump appeared on the leg that had been hurting; she sought medical help and was informed that she had a form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Because of her compromised immune system, the usual regimen of chemotherapy would be particularly risky for her. She desires to become a patient at a clinic that her family and she believes offers her the best hope of recovery—without the tremendous risk involved in a strictly traditional regimen of chemotherapy. At this clinic, a candidate for chemotherapy treatments is given only what is confirmed effective (by pretreatment testing) against that patient’s particular cancer, and the chemotherapy is delivered so efficiently to the targeted cancer cells that much lower doses are effective. The clinic also works to strengthen the patient’s body and immune system.

Brioni does not have insurance. She is not able to work at this time. The small amount of money in her bank account is steadily shrinking. Her parents are willing to help but have an income that is inadequate to meet this need. (Their own regular savings and most of their retirement savings have already been used for Brioni’s earlier medical expenses.)

Brioni continues to have an intense longing to serve others who are suffering. If you contribute to this fund so that she can receive the medical help she needs, you will be a great blessing to her and very likely to others through her. All proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to pay medical bills she incurs at the clinic. Thank you and God bless you.
