Please help us recover from the tornado that has scattered our lives.

2011 has been a year of challenges. A tornado struck our home on April 16th, 2011 and threw our lives into a tailspin. Our home sustained major damage but is still standing. The foundation has split from the forces of the winds. With each day that passes the damage appears to be worsening. The last 8 months have been nothing but a disaster. Our insurance company refuses to offer us a fair settlement or closure to our claim. We are currently paying a mortgage on the damaged home along with rent for the temporary home in advance, in hopes that they will reimburse us each month. We are a one income family and are struggling to keep our family afloat. We have had to throw out most of what we owned, due to fiberglass/dangerous particle contamination. To make things worse we had a mice infestation that resulted from all the holes that the insurance company cut into drywall in the home. If it were not for the kindness of our family, friends and community we would have nothing to furnish our temporary home or clothe ourselves and our 4 kids in. We spent five weeks in a hotel, three months in a smoky apartment, and have moved 4 times in the last 8 1/2 months. Our children have lost much of what they treasured, and yet they have only wished to be back in our home, and for our home to be safe again. We have not had a chance to get out of crisis mode, and the bills just pile up. We have spent just about all the savings we have just trying to keep our family together and safe. We have an uphill battle to fight with the insurance company and yet our needs are urgent. We have not been able to begin repairs on our home. It may be several months till the claim is settled and a contractor can begin repairs. Our future is uncertain and we pray that God will bless us according to his plan. Please help us to breathe again. Thank you.
