Jordan Amend is a 7-year-old child with an infectious smile, and a catastrophic disease. Jordan suffers from Dravet syndrome, which is a rare seizure disorder that begins in the first year of life in a child whom up until then had been healthy. Jordan's fight with Dravet syndrome began when he was 10-months-old, and to date he has suffered over 500 seizures. At the age of two Jordan began saying a few words. At the age of four these words were taken from him forever when he had 10 grand mal seizures in one day.

Jordan is very bright, but without language, has a very difficult time conveying his needs and wants. This causes him to become frustrated and bang his head and hit himself.

Jordan has shown the ability to operate a computer and an IPod Touch. For this reason we feel that he would quickly learn how to use an IPad with a communication program on it, specifically "vocabeans" or "icommunicate".

We may never get to hear Jordan say "Mom or Dad" in the traditional way - please help us reach our fund raising goal of $1,000.00 to be able to purchase the IPad and software for him, so he can say it another way.

Thanks so much,

Pat and Kim Amend
