help with medical expenses

On Friday, August 17th, Jerry and I had the pleasure of celebrating our brother-in-law’s, Dave’s, 51st birthday. We had a wonderful evening. There was only one problem and we worked hard not to allow it to dampen the festivities. Dave is struggling with Stage IV Glioblastoma. Glioblastoma is an aggressive brain cancer that knows no bounds and shows little mercy.
Dave was diagnosed in March of 2010 and no one could fight this fight with greater courage and generosity. Never once have I heard him utter the words of ‘why me’. In fact, when he heard those words from one of us, Dave was quick to say; ‘why not me, these things happen to everyone else. Why should I be any different?’ Dave is one of my super heroes.
He is a husband, father of three and now grandfather to an energetic 1 year old boy. He is a former City of Hamilton Police Officer and Butler County Sheriff. Dave’s illness forced him into retirement. Retirement wasn’t easy for David for being a ‘Cop’ was who he was. Life isn’t just difficult because of the illness. Early retirement decreased the family’s income significantly. They struggle to keep up with the monthly bills let alone all of the additional expenses that come with such a battle.
