Help us raise funds for the Singh family to re-open Punjab Grill in another location. Please show your support!

On March 13th, 2014, Punjab Grill closed its doors at 40 Pearl Street for the last time. A conflict with the landlord forced the Singh family to abandon their location and the improvements they invested in there.

Because the Singh family has poured so much of their time, passion, and resources into the Pearl Street location, they have no hopes of being able to open another restaurant any time soon.

That’s where you come in. Grand Rapids wants to claim that it supports local businesses; let’s prove it.

Harmoninder Singh welcomed everyone like family while she and her son, General Manager, Simran, kept things running smoothly in the front of the house. Simran’s father, Executive Chef Gursharn, worked his magic behind the scenes in the kitchen where the Singh family specializes in Mughlai and Punjabi cuisines. Those regions of India are known for freshness and for using more spices and flavors; Mughlai style food, specifically, has a richness and depth that was originally meant to feed royalty. While most indian restaurants utilize 3 base sauces and between 25 and 30 spices, Punjab Grill uses 8 base sauces and over 125 spices, which they ground in house. It is a tragedy that we have lost their remarkable contribution to the GR food scene.
