Family, Friends, and Pet Lovers,

This is Helping Harley's Fundraising Page. Contributions made will be used solely to help pay for medical bills a recent stay in the Intensive Care Unit at an Animal Specialty Care facility.

Harley is 6 years old and up until recently a very active, happy, and loving pooch.
One day he made a drastic change, unable to stand, loss of appetite, and a saddened look on his face, I became concerned.
After a visit to his vet the following day, I was informed for the first time that Harley had diabetes mellitucus. More importantly since we were unaware he had this disease, was suffering from life threatening complications of diabetes called Ketoacidosis.

Harley was kept that evening so that he could be treated with IV fluids and further testing. He was released the following afternoon.
Not even a day later, Harley took a frightening turn for the worse. Frantically I called his Vet on a Sunday. It was then that she expressed her concern and the sense of urgency for his life. She told me to get in the car and take him to the facility in Yonkers where specialist would be able to monitor him for 24 hrs.
Harley was then admitted into the Intensive Care Unit for 4 days. After taking two trips daily to handfeed him and receive information that taught me how I would have to care for him going forward, a happier, healthy Harley came home.
Under my supervision along with two daily insulin injections, urine testing to monitor his ketone levels and blood sugar, plus a strict diet requiring home cooked meals, Harley thankfully is doing well!
However, I received this crazy bill for his stay and treatment. Personally, I don't mind asking for help, admitting a mistake or needing more time to learn. But when it comes to help or assistance with money, it's not in my comfort zone AT ALL.
However, at the urging of friends, it was suggested that this is appropriate to allow a place to donate if they want to help. Harley and I are really grateful for all the support.
Any contribution would be appreciated.
Even if you can help and spread the word that would be huge.

Thank you for taking the time to read about Harley and for visiting his page.

I will keep you posted on how he's doing.

Many thanks!

Harley and Mom (Nancy Sanchez)
