Please join me in bringing holiday cheer to families in need this season. We will be delivering wants, needs, food and love to local homes.

For the eleventh straight year, the Business Leaders of Charlotte (BLOC) will be adopting families during the holiday season. What started as a "pass the hat" at our December luncheon in 2002, has evolved into a fundraising bowling event, "BLOC 'n' Bowl", and a mass delivery of holiday cheer to families in dire need. It works like this: We accept pledges for our bowling efforts. We bowl. We raise money. We select as many families as we can possibly support via a local non-profit agency. We get each family's wish/needs list. We shop. We wrap presents. We deliver, including grocery store gift cards so that each family can provide a good holiday meal and a quite a few afterward. How can you help? Make a contribution to my bowling team, via this website. I found that the pledge per pin was hard to reconcile after each event, so a flat pledge works best. I'll forward the results to you so that you know what kind of difference we are all making. A little history: I mentioned the "pass the hat" start in 2002. That first year, a couple dozen of us filled the hat with $660 and adopted a local family. The next year, we did the same thing and raised about $1,200 and adopted two families. The next year, we started BLOC 'n' Bowl, and raised about $4,000, and adopted 8 families. The next year, we exceeded $8,000, then $11,000, and eventually in the neighborhood of $15,000 each of the last three years. That means we're delivering to 15 - 20 families that have "nothing" every year. This has become a highlight for me and my family every Christmas season, as my children look forward to the present delivery as much as they do opening their own gifts (smile). Anyway, please make whatever contribution you're able or comfortable offering, as no gift is too small. And, if you're so inclined, please visit us during our bowling event on December 8th, as it's a lot of fun from the first roll to the awards afterward. Thank you, in advance, for considering this outreach to those in poverty during this holiday season. Humbly, Mike Waite 704-254-1134
