Parents of Arianna are raising money to help her have a better future with a rare brain malformation.

When I was 30 weeks pregnant an ultrasound showed a shadow on my babys brain. We were sent to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to get an MRI, and EKG, and an U/S of Arianna. We received the worst news of our lives that day. Arianna has Schizencephaly. She has clefts in her brain, open on the left and closed on the right. She is missing about 40% of her brain. We were told she would not learn how to walk, talk, may require a feeding tube, be mentally retarded, have epilepsy, and be dependent on us for life. They said my baby girl may not live to her second decade of life.
I was devastated beyond imagination. But I pushed forward and delivered a beautiful baby girl on November 6th, 2011. She was perfect, and it gave me hope for her future.
Arianna has also been diagnosed with microcephaly, polymicrogyria, and septo-optic dysplasia.
At eight months she is doing better then I could have imagined. However, due to her diagnosi she has developed hypertonia and hypotonia which has effected her muscle tone and she is not able to use her right side of her body very well. She also is required to use an eye patch a few hours a day because her vision has also been effected. She is delayed on her milestones, not yet sitting or crawling.
We did enroll her in Early Intervention, however, we have not seen much improvement. Upon doing research on therapies and her diagnosis, I came across a method called the Anet Baniel Method. With only four sessions so far, Arianna has showed great improvement. Unfortunately this is not covered by insurance. I did have to quite my job in order to care for Arianna and have been struggling with every day things. This fundraiser will allow her to participate in this therapy for a year plus help with the equipment she requires.
Thank you for your support in helping my baby get the best treatment in order for her to have the best future possible.
