This fundraiser is for my almost 10 year old son Joshua who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. DMD slowly robs Josh of his muscle usage. He can no longer climb up steps and needs a ramp. He needs so much more equipment and we need your help!

My name is Heather Brian and about a year ago my son Josh got a heart breaking diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. At the  time we knew nothing of Duchenne and now it is an everyday part of our lives. Duchenne affects Josh's muscle function which leads to so much more chaos in his body. At this time there is NO CURE and VERY LITTLE TREATMENT. We are setting up this fundraiser to help pay for two basic things that I can't afford on a teacher's salary to make life easier and less stressful for Josh. Josh no longer has the ability to climb steps. He slowly crawls up them and soon he won't have the strength to do that. We need your help in raising the money to have a ramp built so Josh can easily come in his own home. The other piece of equipment Josh needs is a specialized bed that will raise and lower his legs and lower to aid in getting in to bed, because climbing into bed has become a challenge. Josh wears AFO braces to prevent him from walking on his tip toes, for balance, and to help with contractures of the muscles in his legs. The bed will aid in helping prevent contractures. The more contractures he has the more likely it will lead to surgery, which leads to never walking again. Inevitablly Josh will completely lose the ability to walk, but with your help the goal is to keep him walking as long as possible! I have set up this site to start his fundraising early. Here is the masterplan!!! On September 7th in honor of Josh's 10th birthday we are asking everyone to donate $10. This means we only need to reach 500 people to reach our goal of $5,000. If you would like to give before September 7th or would like to give more, please feel free to do so! Please share this site with family, friends, co-workers, and church members. Your donation will help keep a great little boy walking days longer!
