Please help Sarah Carter experience two, once-in-a-lifetime opportunities as a music lover, avid choir member, and undergrad senior.

Sarah Carter is blessed to be a member of a choir that was chosen to embark on two, once-in-a-lifetime and internationally acclaimed projects.

As a member of Palmetto Voices, a semi-professional alumni choir directed by Dr. Sonja Sepulveda, she was chosen to participate in the National American Choral Directors Association conference in Dallas, TX in March 2013, along with her fellow Palmetto Voices. (Costing an estimated total of $800.)

Sarah is a student at Salem College and a member of all choirs, also directed by Dr. Sepulveda, which were chosen to participate in the Festival of the Aegean in Syros, Greece in summer of 2013. (Estimated total: $3000.)

To better understand the significance of these choir excursions, we should explain Dr. Sepulveda's mission for her choirs. She is nationally known as an advocate for the American Spiritual - an exciting blend of classical and African American folk music. She intends to spread the message of the Spiritual (one of love, hope, passion, and true American form) to the world. She says, "the National ACDA is the equivalent to the Olympics for choir." It's the highest honor achievable, as hundreds of choirs submit their names and recordings, and only the top 40 are chosen.

Salem College choirs don't exclusively do Spirituals and gospel, however. They also perform classical music (such as Mozart's Requiem) to Celtic folk tunes ("Loch Lomond") to pop music (Lady Gaga's "Telephone")! They truly have a gift for everyone, and thrive off delivering musicality and passion to touch the lives of all they encounter. It is truly a blessing to take these choirs nationally and internationally for the first time in over three decades.

Please help Sarah Carter make history with these choirs.
