The family and friends of Jackson Smith are uniting to raise money to help pay for current and future medical expenses. Thank you!

Jackson Smith is the son of David and Sumer Smith, and brother to 10 year old Carter Emma Smith of Cherryville, N.C. Jackson is 8 years old and in the third grade at Cherryville Elementary. He is an Honor Roll student, works at the School Store and is in the Book Club. Jackson enjoys sports and the outdoors. Jackson plays football for the Cherryville Little Ironmen and baseball for Tryon Optimists. He loves to swim ,fish, ride his bike, and just play! Jackson is a very loving, caring child, who would give anyone the shirt off his back. He has an insatiable desire to put a smile on everyone’s face he meets.
On April 7, 2012, Jackson and his family were visiting relatives in Tennessee. This day, would end-up changing his childhood routine for quite some time. Jackson was in an ATV accident and rushed to UT Medical Center in Knoxville. He suffered severe facial trauma. Jackson's nose was rebuilt. He had many broken facial bones and teeth, as well as, extensive soft tissue damage. Jackson will have a slow, timely recovery which will consist of future surgeries and extensive dental work.
Jackson has thought long and hard about his accident and does not want this to happen to anyone else. He recently spoke with the principal of his school, and asked her if she would give him the opportunity to address his school on safety tips and the consequences of using poor judgment. His principal thought he would make a wonderful advocate for this, and with the help of the local fire department captain, Jackson will speak to his entire school at the end of next month: All in hopes, that one child will listen and maybe think twice!!!!!
